Hi, I'm Matt. I teach drums, bass, guitar, and trombone. I've been a musician for as long as I can remember and started gigging seriously in 2018. In June 2023, I will earn my Bachelor of Music, majoring in performance on electric bass. I've spent two years studying music pedagogy and audio production. I have performed hundreds of times across as many genres as I could explore. Funk and progressive rock are my favorites, but I also have experience in blues, punk, grunge, country, pop, soul, jazz, and ska music. Additionally, I've performed in musical theatre productions and traditional African drumming groups, and have produced an album.

I spend a lot of time thinking about music. I believe it's important for musicians to understand why art evokes certain feelings and what techniques artists use to create those emotions, so we can incorporate them into our musical vocabulary. This approach to musical analysis and understanding is what I aim to share with my students, helping them become the best musicians they can be.
